En el blog kernel.panic! me encontré con este poster en el cual se agradece a todos los hackers de Ubuntu que contribuyeron con la salida de la nueva versión Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 LTS.
Ya se imaginan mi sorpresa y el orgullo que sentí al ver mi nombre plasmado ahí entre tantas celebridades

Some preliminary stats from the FLISOL Nicaragua 2008 event:
- +1,000 people attended the three local events in Managua, León and Juigalpa
- 17 conferences
- 58 installs (*buntu: 38, openSuse: 11, Debian: 4, Fedora: 4, Linux Mint: 1)
It’s been a long day, but I’m very pleased with the outcome of the event. Now I’m heading off to the FLISOL and Hardy Heron Release Party. I need some beer very badly

Actualizar a Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Abril 23, 2008

Para comenzar, abrimos una terminal y procedemos a actualizar todos los paquetes de Gutsy (7.10):
sudo apt-get upgrade
Si tenemos nuestro sistema al día podemos saltarnos este paso y comenzar con la actualización a Hardy (8.04):
- Desde la misma terminal: update-manager -c (Nota: si decidimos actualizar antes de la salida de la versión oficial, debemos darle: update-manager -c -d)
- Se abrirá el Gestor de Actualizaciones informándonos que está disponible la nueva versión de Ubuntu 8.04 LTS. Solo damos click en el botón Actualizar.
- Nos presenta las Notas de la versión. Damos click nuevamente en el botón Actualizar.
- Desde aquí todo va cuesta abajo y en rodada El sistema descargará los paquetes nuevos y los instalará. Una vez finalizada la instalación le pedirá reiniciar el sistema.
- Bienvenid@s a la era de la Garza Robusta!!!
Strategic Planning Abril 8, 2008

The Ubuntu-ni community organized and hosted the very first of a series of workshops for Strategic Planning (TPE, in Spanish). The idea behind the TPE is to design and implement the local FOSS community’s strategic plan for the next twelve months.
We identified four general areas of interest. Every area drafted 4-6 projects that the community is going to work on in 2008-2009. The areas are:
- Communication and Advocacy
- Education
- Local FOSS development
- Strengthen of the local and regional communities
The TPE is still a work in progress, but the results of the first workshop looks promising. In the following weeks, we are going to release all the material; the methodology and tools we used, the project guides, and of course, the Strategic Plan itself, so that other LoCo Teams can learn and benefit from our experience.
